Zan’s Minimap Mod for Minecraft 1.7.4 / 1.7.2 / 1.6.4 & 1.5.2
Oh boy. Once you start Minecraft the first time, it can be quite overwhelming, as the created world is just so huge and everything is new. Here Zan’s Minimap Mod is very handy. It will show a big chunk of the area you are at the moment in a small window on the top right of your screen. This way you can see where to go.
Another handy feature ist, that you can set waypoints for special locations, so you dont have to remember everything.
Zan’s Mini-map Mod for Minecraft adds a customizable display on the top right of your screen which mimics the function of common mini-map features found in other games. Most modern games include some manner of this feature and Minecraft is no different. However, the vanilla map leaves a lot to be desired which is where this mod comes in. Zan’s gives you a greatly expanded mapping and radar system which can be tinkered with to fit your needs, report mob locations, and set waypoints to help you find your way to key locations in your world.
Map and Radar Customization
The map itself is very customizable and has a range of data it can display to help you more successfully navigate the expansive worlds of Minecraft. In the menu players can select the position, size, and zoom level of their map to fit their chosen screen size and play style. This mod also includes a full screen map that shows the nearest surrounding chunks with optional biome and lighting information. Its customization only begins there as this mod features a programmable radar to help you locate a variety of mobs and regions in the game. Built to be used primarily on multiplayer servers, this mod can show player positions on the map in real-time, giving you a means to locate your friends and keep a watchful eye on your property for intruders. The radar can report the location of hostile and neutral mobs as well, making it much easier to find valuable livestock or to serve as an early warning sign of impending creeper attacks. The mob radar can be customized to show subterranean creatures, surface dwellers, and programmed to show specific mobs only, for those times you just need to know where a skeleton archer is.
Waypoints and One-Click Teleportation
Perhaps the most interesting feature of Zan’s Mini-map Mod is that it provides a well thought out waypoint feature. Waypoints allow you to mark relevant positions on your map so you have a means to return at a later time. Given the functionally infinite size of a Minecraft world, this is invaluable. You can set your waypoint via the coordinates the mod supplies by default or enter your own. This will set up a glowing beacon which sends an easily recognized pillar of light into the sky as well as a colored dot on the mini-map itself. The best part is that this mod enables instant teleportation to any player-set waypoint. It is as simple as opening the Zan’s menu screen, selecting the waypoint option and clicking the teleport button after selecting one of your recorded locations. Anyone who’s explored the vast terrains of Minecraft knows how easy it is to get lost or fall victim to a surprise mob attack. Zan’s Mini-map Mod gives you the tools the vanilla game lacks to safely and efficiently navigate your world. With customizable interface, a radar displaying player and mob locations, and the waypoint feature, this mod is an invaluable part of any player’s tool set.
