Have you ever wanted to find a better way to hide the secret entrances in your Minecraft house? Levers and pressure plates are far too obvious, and not all that secret, so how about torches? Put simply, the Torch Levers Mod adds the ability to use torches exactly like levers.
Of course, you’re probably asking yourself whether or not it actually manages to hide the fact it’s really a lever. In short, sort of. In addition to the traditional torch model, there is a slight bump underneath it (not unlike a pressure plate) that gives away its presence somewhat if you plan on using it to hide “secrets” in your Minecraft world. However, unlike a traditional pressure plate, the torch lever has the advantage of being unexpected to most people who might be trying to uncover your secret.
Lit Levers of All Kinds
It’s not just light-giving torches that this mod allows to be levers, though. It also supports redstone torches, which perform a dual purpose as both the redstone torch and the switch that you would often put next to a redstone torch. This is great for mechanisms that could benefit from even the most minor reduction in size, and can make even the smallest mechanisms better looking, something that is often in short supply when it comes to machines in Minecraft.
What About my Setup?
No matter how cool the mod is though, everyone has a very specific way that their minecraft is setup, with custom made texture packs, skins, and layers upon layers of other mods. As any serious Minecraft player knows, these mods and texture packs often conflict with one another, leading to absolute nightmares when it comes to getting your game working exactly the way that you want it to. Thankfully, this mode makes it extremely easy to get it working with your setup, thanks to the fact that it uses a combination of existing textures to function. Some texture packs will require a bit more configuration than others, but none require the complex balancing act that seems to be ever present int he world of Minecraft modding.
More Than Just Torches
What we’ve talked about up until now is certainly the core of this mod, but the mod’s creator did not want to stop with just torch levers. He really liked the idea of secret buttons, and went on to add what he calls “secret buttons”. These buttons match the block they are perched atop perfectly, in a way that is far less noticeable than even the torch levers. The most impressive of these blocks is the brick button, which fits in perfectly on the grid of bricks that make up a single block in Minecraft, making the button almost unnoticeable and keeping your secret safe. In that way, these buttons do a much better job of achieving the main purpose of the torch levers, but nevertheless, all of the buttons and levers offered by this mod add fun new switches to try out, all of which have a unique set of advantages and disadvantages.
