THX Helicopter Mod - 1.6.2 / 1.5.2 / 1.5.1
The thx helicopter mod for Minecraft is an open source project that allows you to craft a helicopter fairly easily to fly about the game. Being that this is an open source project, the Minecraft community is in control of how awesome this mod becomes. After you download the mod you can use and develop it however you want.
The control for the helicopter are fairly easy, you right click to place one down, and right click to enter. This helicopter is just like a mine cart but with blades and a cool looking cockpit. The thing that makes flying better than carting around Minecraft is that you don’t need coal to fly. Once you are in, the Space bar is used to ascend, left shift to descend, to move forward is the W key. There are other very simple controls to change your direction and pitch but you’ll learn to maneuver pretty quickly. You can fly throughout the game, navigate through caves and mine cart tunnels as well, but you should keep in mind that you can take damage and die if you aren’t careful.
There are different kinds of missiles, including air to air missiles and air to land missiles. One great feature you’ll find in this mod is that you can create a fleet of helicopter allies or enemies. If you craft multiple helicopters and fire at them once they become your ally, and basically mirror your actions, including shooting missiles at your enemies. If you shoot a helicopter twice it becomes your enemy, and therefore will attack you.
Whether you just use the helicopter that the mod came with or develop this mod to its full potential, the choice is yours. Either way, this mod provides you will a new, really cool and easy way to get around and will add hours of entertainment and gameplay.
