This mod will allow a minecraft player to detect the chances of a creature spawning at a given location. It is very simple but useful mod that is client based only. This means you can use it on any server and it cannot be restricted in any way, allowing the player to use it wherever they like.
The player can then cycle through which sets of enemies they wish to check the spawn chances for by pressing the ‘right bracket’ key on their keyboard. Configuration of the mod keys can be changed in the settings menu under controls in the minecraft settings panels.
Once the show monsters mod for minecraft is open, the player must press the mob type button to cycle through the different mob groups available. These consist of passive mobs, such as chickens, sheep, pigs and cows; underwater mobs like the squid; flying mobs like the bat; and finally hostile mobs such as the creeper, zombie, spider, enderman, skeleton and slime.
Once the player has decided which mob type they are wanting to check, they can see the spawn likelihood or ‘weights’ under the group type. Underneath the group type on the screen is a number that signifies the weight or likelihood that creature type will spawn. For example, a weight of 1 is nearly certain to spawn, while a weight of 12 is very unlikely.
This mod is incredibly useful for detecting if hostile mobs might spawn in your base or safe area. If you are hunting for passive animals such as sheep or cows, this mod will quickly let you know if you are looking in the correct area or need to venture to another are with better chances.
