Chests have quickly become one of the most instantly recognizable parts of Minecraft, and indeed one of the most important as well - we store practically everything we'll ever need in these things, but the fact is that there's just not anywhere near enough variety. This is where the Iron Chest mod comes into play, bringing a number of new chests to the game.
Instead, each chest that is added holds a different amount of items, each progressive quality of material holding more items than the last. In ascending order, the chests added are:
Out of all these, the crystal chest is probably the most unique. While the other chests are simply bigger versions of the standard vanilla Minecraft chest with some different decoration, crystal chests allow for the player to see the eight most common items in the chest, while managing to stills tore as many things in it as the standard diamond chest does.
So Many Colors!
Of course, the bottom line of any mod is how it actually plays out in Minecraft, and what sorts of advantages it gives the player over the vanilla experience. Not only does the iron chest mod for Minecraft allow players to store far more than they ever could before in a much more compressed space inside their house or other base of operation, these chests allow for chests to match the aesthetic of a Minecraft home far more readily. Let’s face it, very few people build their eventual Minecraft house out of wood, and the default chests look utterly out of place unless you use some sort of texture pack to make them look better. With all the different colors of chests available in the iron chest mod, the decorative possibilities are endless.
So Much Utility!
Of course, if you don’t care about aesthetics, these chests remain absolutely great. The diamond chest can hold so many things in it that the interface almost runs off the screen, which means there’s no more constructing massive rooms inside of a building or underground just so that you can store all of your chests. Now you can use a much smaller room for the same thing, and even have all the colors of the rainbow in it to categorize exactly what is in each type of chest.
