Chicken Chunks Mod for Minecraft 1.7.2 / 1.6.4 & 1.6.2
If you would like your Minecraft world to continue to be active even when there are no players around, then you need a specialized block called a chunkloader. There are a few Minecraft mods that try to implement this functionality. One of these is the Chicken Chunks mod. This mod is included as part of the Chickenbones collection.
A 16×16 block area in a Minecraft world is known as a chunk. If a player gets near a chunk, then it becomes active. In some cases, a player may want to force a chunk to be continuously active. Force loading an area will allow things like automatic farms, forests, and quarries to continue to run even if no one is around.
This mod is highly configurable. It allows players to specify the radius, in chunks, of the area that they want to keep active. Users can choose to let the chunkloader control chunks in the shape of a square, circle, or in a straight line. The mod can show spinning lasers on the border of the area that will be force loaded.
The included ChunkViewer utility can also be loaded to help visualize which chunks are active, where you have placed your chunkloaders, and the location of players.
This mod allows Minecraft servers to control several options. Server administrators can manage how many chunks a player can keep active. They can also specify that chunkloaders only work when players are online, and they can disable force loading for certain dimensions. These options can help to keep server load under control.
This mod requires that Minecraft Forge and CodeChickenCore be installed.
